How does it work?

The needle used in the procedure is very thin and may produce a twitch response. Research has shown that when a needle is successfully inserted into the dysfunctional area, it can cause a favorable bio-chemical change. Inserting the needle can help return the muscle to it’s normal, relaxed state over time. The treated area will respond by increasing blood flow to create a healing response. Typically within a few visits, patients see positive results including reduced chronic pain, improved strength and flexibility. Our licensed and credentialed chiropractor will guide you through the process so you can know what to expect.

Is it like acupuncture?

No. Acupuncture and dry needling are two very different treatments. Here’s why: DRY NEEDLING is based on Western medical principles and evidence-based research. The technique targets the painful area to induce a healing response in nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. Dry needling is used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

Dry needling can...

• Improve pain control

• Reduce muscle tension

• Normalize dysfunctions of the motor end plates —The sites at which nerve impulses are transmitted to muscles

• Speed up rehabilitation

Painful conditions that respond well to Dry Needling:

• Neck, back and shoulder pain

• Arm pain (tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, golfer’s elbow)

• Headaches

• TMJ

• Hip and leg pain

• Plantar fasciitis

• Fibromyalgia

• Common aches and pains
